The December meeting was our annual holiday gathering held at the clubhouse of Ron Kneale. The Pomona Valley Chapter of the PTG had a wonderful turnout of its members and their guests. A variety of many fine potluck dishes was shared by all. It was a wonderful time to reconnect with old friends and relax in the spirit of the holidays.

Entertainment for this year's holiday party was provided by JazzKRAF, Ron Kneale's phenomenal quintet. JazzKRAF played some absolutely wonderful music that was thoroughly enjoyed by all of those in attendance. They also perform locally in the Chino area at least twice a month. If you would like to hear them again or find out what you missed, call Ron Kneale for details.

Our next meeting will be a multi-chapter gathering at Keyboard Concepts in Orange County with special guest, Roger Jolly. Mr. Jolly has worked in the piano industry for the last 35 years and has worked in most areas of the profession. During this time he has worked as a salesman, piano technician, rebuilder, designer, manufacturer’s technical consultant and clinician. Until recently he was Vice President for Samick Music Corporation and was also the Director of Product Development, overseeing the assembly of the Knabe and JP Pramberger Grand pianos.

He has been a featured guest speaker at major conventions in Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Norway, Australia, the Czech Republic and Korea. Mr. Jolly is a member of the Piano Technicians Guild and the Canadian Association of Piano Technicians. Roger is the recipient of the prestigious Jack Greenfield award for research and writing (Piano Technicians Guild 2001) and the Outstanding Achievement Award (Canadian Association of piano technicians 2000). He is the contract rebuilder/concert technician for the University of Saskatchewan Department of Music.

There are many possible topics Roger might cover. At press time, we had discussed the possibility of his voicing and tuning class and his pedal lyre class. He has taught so many varied topics it has been difficult to pick one. If you have read this to the end and wish to put forward a request, please feel free to contact Kayoko Forrest (LA Chapter President) at (310) 829-4644. We obviously want this to be a big turn out and will be happy to hear what you would like to learn. Roger is making a special trip to be with us. (He's not planning to attend NAMM.) Please join us and give him a big welcome!

We look forward to many fun and educational events in 2013! Happy New Year!
