May Meeting: (2nd Monday)
Date: Monday, May 13, 2013
Time: 7:00 pm
Location:  Dennis Ashly’s Shop
                930 Ventura Blvd.
                Oakview, CA 93022

Four of us met at Jim Connolly's shop on April 8th. We discussed a variety of topics related to piano technology and our businesses:

-What to do when customers insist on having work done although the cost of repairs will greatly exceed the value of the piano and will not produce a very good instrument.
-Using binder clips on hammer shanks to increase touch weight.
-Dennis Ashly showed us some hammers and we discussed how to get the best tone out of them.
-Jim Connolly talked about getting into the middle of a dispute between a mover and a customer who exaggerated the amount of damage that the movers caused.
-We debated the effectiveness of using foam baffles to decrease the volume of a piano.
-String seating and its influence on tuning stability and tone
-Unusual tuning pins: the Mason & Hamlin screw stringer, and Wegman pins
-How to improve our income tax system

Jim informed us that he has gotten together a few articles for our website.

The next meeting will be held at Dennis Ashly’s Shop. He intends to expound on Pro-Filing of hammers. It should be an interesting evening.
