February Meeting: (2nd Monday) Board Meeting:

25041 Redlands Blvd
Loma Linda, CA 92354

Our chapter was well represented at the multi-chapter meeting that was organized by the Los Angeles Chapter and held at the Colburn School in Los Angeles on Saturday, January 25. Chris Brown, RPT, gave a two-part presentation. The first part of his presentation was a procedure for bedding the grand keyframe. Chris' attention to detail was evident as he took us step by step through the process of bedding first the backrail, then the action stack, the front rail, and finally the balance rail. In the second part of his presentation, Chris made the case for doing a custom boring when replacing grand hammers. The reason for this is that Chris has found that string height can vary as much as 5/16" due to plate warping. When this is not accounted for, it causes all kinds of regulation problems. Thank you, Kay, for all that you did to organize this event. And thank you members of the South Bay Chapter for the delicious pies you brought!

Our February meeting will be held at Bill Shull's store, Shull Piano, in Loma Linda (25041 Redlands Blvd). For the technical program, Roger Domeny will be doing another fun-filled exam prep session for our Associate Members, with plenty of useful information for everyone. This time our focus will be on flange repinning and achieving the correct amount of resistance in each type of flange. Just for fun, there will be a quiz to see how accurate you are at gauging the resistance in various types of flanges. For each flange you will have the opportunity to determine if it is too tight, too loose, or just right. Basic repinning tools will be displayed, and repinning techniques demonstrated and discussed.

West Pac IV is fast approaching, and we hope to see many of you there in San Francisco February 27 - March 2. You will find all the particulars at www.westpac-ptg.org. It's no secret that West Pac is one of the best regional conferences, and San Francisco isn't all that far away. If you can't make it to Atlanta this year, you really should come to West Pac! Early registration ends February 13, so you'd better hurry!

Please note that due to the timing of West Pac, there will be no March meeting. (Yet another reason to come to West Pac!)
