April Meeting: (2nd Monday)                                                                                                                 Board Meeting:
Date: Monday, April 14, 2014
Time: 7:30 pm                                                                                                                                         6:00 pm
Location: Shull Piano
25041 Redlands Blvd., Loma Linda 92354

It was great to see so many of our members at West Pac IV in Redwood City last month. I believe the final count was nine Pomona Valley members present. If you weren't there, you missed what I believe was the best West Pac Institute yet.

There was no March meeting due to West Pac IV.

Please join us on Monday, April 14, for our next chapter meeting which will feature Alan Eder, RPT and a very informative and entertaining technical program titled, "Evolution of the Piano: A Collaboration Across Space and Time." If the title makes this program sound a bit cosmic and all-encompassing, that's because it is! Join us as we trace the development of the piano, starting way back in time, with an overview of the history of tools and invention in general, and then zeroing in on the piano's antecedents dating back to the nascent years of human history and early weaponry. Stops along the way to the present day will consider the contribution of various cultures, individuals, continents and centuries. This program was initially developed for music history classes at the Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts (where Alan has been the piano technician for over thirty years), and has been expanded for piano technicians and presented at PTG chapter meetings and, most recently, at West Pac IV.

Looking ahead to our May meeting, we are excited to announce that Larry Messerly, our Western Regional Vice President, will be our guest presenter. His technical presentation will include an explanation and demonstration of the AcriliKey ivory keytop repair system.

Directions to Shull Piano: From the 10 Freeway in Loma Linda, take the Tippecanoe/Anderson St. exit (#74) and head south on Anderson St. Turn left (east) on Redlands Blvd. which parallels the freeway. Shull piano is on the right, directly across from Spreen Honda. Park in back or along the side of the store.
