Date: Monday, April 13, 2015
Time: 7:00 pm

Five members met at Jim Connolly's shop on March 9, 2015 at 7:00 pm.

In our technical session, we discussed how to make our newsletter more effective, the music of the spheres, which members have not renewed yet, replacing leg bolts on grand pianos, rebuilding a piano that has more sentimental than musical value, tying strings, universal bass strings, and old pianos in poor shape used for recording.

Jim Connolly gave a program on the difference between A-440 and A-444. He had us listen to several recordings he made of a violinist to see if we could discern what pitch the instrument had been tuned to. The results were interesting enough that we may try this again with another instrument. The meeting adjourned at 10:08.

This month’s meeting will be on the subject of keytop recovering. We will meet at the shop of Dennis Ashly where he will demonstrate the various aspects involved: stripping of old tops, as well as fronts if necessary, application and then trimming the pre-molds with clean square cuts.

‘Hope to see a lot of members and those who are interested in piano technology.
