March Meeting: (1st Monday)                                                         Board Meeting:
Date: Monday, March 7, 2016     (Note special date)
Time 7:30 pm                                                                                 6:00 pm
Location: Shull Piano
610 Amigos Drive B-2
Redlands, CA 92373

For our February meeting, Roger Domeny demonstrated how to set the foundation for an aural temperament using a progression of stacked or contiguous major thirds. The neat thing about this approach is that you don't have to set major thirds to theoretical beat speeds. Instead, you let the piano tell you how to set them by listening for a smooth and even progression from one contiguous major third to the next. If you are interested, Jack Stebbins teaches a similar class at conventions that he calls "Jack's Stack."

Please note the new location for this month's chapter meeting. Shull Piano has moved from Loma Linda to Redlands. The address is 610 Amigos Drive B2. (See below for driving directions.)

Our March meeting will take place on Monday, March 7 (Note: this is the FIRST Monday of March), and will feature Don Mannino, aka "Kawai Don." The topic of Don's presentation will be "Grand Damper System Repair and Regulation." Don will unravel the mysteries of servicing damper systems in Kawai grand pianos and other similarly designed pianos. He will demonstrate damper tray block replacement and service, regulating the damper lift from the key and from the pedal, regulating the sostenuto, plus much more! Don will even include demonstration of trimming trichord wedges to reduce noise when lifting. If you've had difficulties working on grand dampers, don't miss this class!

Please note that due to the timing of WestPac VI, there will be NO meeting in April. After our March 7 meeting, our next scheduled meeting will be Monday evening, May 9.

Registration is still open for this year's WestPac Conference which will be held in Seattle from March 31 to April 3. For more information and to register online visit www.ptgwestpac.org.
