Greetings to all Southern California piano technicians and readers of the PTG Southern California Newsletter.
We hope all had a happy and safe New Year. We did not have a chapter meeting in January, but please read the Los Angeles Chapter section for a recap of the joint chapter meeting in Santa Monica.
This month's meeting we will be back at Fields Pianos in Santa Ana. Los Angeles' finest harpsichord builder, Curtis Berak, will be presenting his program, "All About Harpsichords." He will bring in a harpsichord and also will have a presentation on screen. His instrument collection also includes fortepianos, chamber organs, and hurdy-gurdies (we'll save those for another time-haha). Curtis provides harpsichords for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and many Southern California concert venues. In building harpsichords, he begins with historical models and optimizes them for modern usage. He will undoubtedly be happy to answer our questions about repair and maintenance. This should be interesting!
Fields will provide sandwiches and refreshments, as usual.
