The May meeting was held at Keyboard Concepts in Fountain Valley, and our thanks goes out to the management there for making us welcome and well fed (BBQ style).

Elections were held and the following slate of officers for the 2018/19 year was voted in by unanimous proclamation:
Melissa Weidner - President
David Stoneman- Vice President
Steve Blasyak - Secretary
Diane Vehoski - Treasurer

Our last meeting presentation was made by Blaine Hébert, RPT. Mr. Hebert is a third generation technician with additional experience as a science teacher. His information regarding "The Dangers We Face" will certainly be a hit at the national convention this summer. He covered eye care, ear care, lung care, and varmint concerns from the largest (dogs) to the smallest (viruses). If you missed it here, try to catch it in Lancaster. The most expensive tool we use is our body, and replacement is not an option. His years as a teacher were evident in the expert way information was relayed. Thank you, Blaine.

The June presentation will be at Fields Pianos in Santa Ana and given by Alan Eder, RPT. Alan has been the full-time piano technician at the Herb Alpert School of Music at California Institute of the Arts for 35 years. CalArts specializes in experimental music. He will discuss extended piano playing techniques and show a video he produced on the topic. "Non-Traditional Piano Use" was originally created for in-house use, but has since moved to the forefront as a primary source material on the subject.

Alan will also moderate a group discussion about working as a piano technician in an institutional setting. See you there!
