In September the South Bay and LA Chapters were welcomed to the shop of David Rubenstein where we learned about how he creates keysets. The 12'2" grand piano was present, but not on display. The making of the key set for this piano was part of the presentation. David's keys are of the finest quality materials and highest level of workmanship. People have reported noticeable improvement with the custom made key set over the original key set. A price list for David's key work can be obtained in print or by email. PTG member admission to NAMM is available again this year for January 2019. Register online for this massive event.

Our October program will once again be from our chapter member Bruce Stevens who would like to take us deeper into the subject of assessing the condition of a grand action that is in need of restoration. We will gather around an old, partially restored Steinway Model C action where Bruce will lead us in taking the "pulse" of the action and identifying any possible or existing problems, i.e. balance weight inconsistencies, action ratio issues, excessive key leading, hammer weight problems, better parts selection, etc. This will be a roundtable/hands-on discussion with the goal of prescribing the procedures needed to create the optimal touch on this old action. We will meet at Kawai America. See you there!
