The Santa Barbara Chapter met on February 11 in Ojai at Ashly Piano Crafts.
Our technical portion covered such topics as tips for tuning screw stringer pianos and various tools and tips for making action adjustments; definitions of pitch raises and concert tunings and whether and why to charge more for them.
The program was a shank repair clinic where members demonstrated various techniques for making a variety of shank repairs and replacements. It had a great collaborative energy and was educational!
Our next meeting will be Monday, March 11 at Jim Connelly's Piano Kitchen in Santa Barbara where we will have a string splicing mini-clinic.
