David Vanderlip and Kathy Smith (aka - Vandersmith) graced us with their presence in May and delivered an excellent overview of the Technical Exam for RPT. The meeting was well attended, especially with people who are potential suspects for that exam.
We received 2 handouts, one for grand and one for upright assembly and regulation of the action models used in the exam. An oft repeated datum in the 2-hour presentation was that function is the senior factor in deciding what dimensions to set the specifications for the action. Another important factor was the paramount importance of following the sequence recommended in the handouts for successful results. Of course the best value of this was that it is useful in everyday regulating. If you missed this one, well, you missed a vital one.
The staff of Keyboard Concepts was very beneficent and helpful in letting us use their space for the meeting. We thank them for all their help and willingness to support PTG.
Our next meeting is June 17 at Precision Piano. We will be covering various technical skills for the PTG technical exam - such things as string installation and repair, bushing installation, shank repair, etc. Tables will be set and manned by RPTs for hands-on involvement. Don't miss this one. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm with light dinner of cold cuts, etc. served at 6:30 pm.
