Greetings to all Southern California technicians and readers of the Southern California Newsletter.
For our may meeting we were delighted to have Sarah Silva for a lecture and hands on (so to speak) on the Alexander Technique. If you haven’t heard of it, get on your googly machine and look it up. We had an intimate but pleasantly large crowd for a holiday. Sarah has a background in music, learned and practiced this technique. She eventually continued her education leading into a career teaching this practice. The presentation started out with an explanation of the benefits of practicing the Alexander Technique. Without getting into too many details, it is mostly about correct posture and positioning of head, neck, and body while doing our work or going about our daily lives. Stress reduction, anxiety relief, and pain experienced with repetitive motion can all be reduced with this practice. Check out Sarah Silva at atsarahsilva.com
Next month we are lucky to have David Vanderlip and Kathy Smith, the
Vandersmith Team, doing a very important program for technical exam prep. David
and Kathy are both CTE’s (Certified Technical Examiners). They administer the
test!!!! There is no one better or more qualified to help you with preparation
for the regulation portion of both the grand and upright exams for RPT. Action
models that are used on the test will be at the meeting. This alone is a huge
advantage. You will receive expert advice from the very best. Anyone hoping to
take the RPT exam within the southland should definitely attend our June
meeting. Hope to see you there!!
ANNOUNCEMENT - Cal State Long Beach is
