Our technical talk for August was given by Mark Greisen.  Mark, a self-taught tuner, who learned piano tuning out of John Travis’ book Let’s Tune Up, related his method of setting a temperament for people who have trouble counting beat speeds.  Using techniques for both Travis and William Braid White he showed how to go around the notes in the A3 - A4 temperament until they were forced into a reasonably good relationship.  Before the technical talk Glenn Treibitz of Hollywood piano gave a very interesting insight into his experiences in the piano business. He would be a very good speaker for a monthly meeting. Thanks for Glenn and Gus Franco and all the staff at Hollywood Piano for hosting out meeting.

Our next meeting will be a celebration of 5 new RPTs, 4 from our chapter and one who just moved to Los Angeles. This may be a record number for new RPTs in the Los Angeles chapter in one year. We still have 4 months left if any others are thinking of taking the exams.

Our new RPTs from North Bennet Street School – Eric, Scott & Cary, will give us a presentation about their experiences in Boston. We also look forward to hearing from Adrian and Yoshi about their journey to the RPT exams.

Congratulations to you all!
