SAN DIEGO COUNTY CHAPTER
In May the San Diego County Chapter continued hosting "Midweek Shop Talk" Zoom meetings that featured in depth discussions with leaders in the piano service industry. Moderated by our chapter president, Brian Janey, the meetings have taken on the look and feel of a video podcast.
Guest speakers and topics featured in our meetings last month included:
- Dale Erwin, RPT, with Erwin Piano Restoration. Dale discussed the history of hammer felts and what you need to understand when ordering a new set of hammers and parts. Many thanks to Dale and Jacob Erwin for an insightful discussion on hammers, voicing, and what it takes to be a "Tone Warrior."
- Dave Swartz, RPT, Cory Piano Care Products, is a pro in our field that has been an instructor and exhibitor at countless PTG conventions and conferences. Dave joined us from St. Paul Minnesota and discussed his product line and professionalism in the piano service industry. Cleaning keys and surfaces was a specific topic of interest that was covered as well. Much appreciation to Dave Swartz for providing us with detailed examples of the proper use of specific products for various cleaning and odor removal challenges.
Our intent is to continue hosting online meetings with noteworthy guest speakers from near and far on about an every other week basis.
