SAN DIEGO COUNTY CHAPTER

September Meeting: (4th Wednesday)
Date: Wednesday, September 23, 2020
Time: 5:00 pm

Our next chapter meeting will be an online seminar hosted by parts and tool manufacturer Wessell, Nickel & Gross (WNG) on Wednesday, September 23rd at 5:00 pm. Further details including the link to the online meeting will be sent out to our members through our San Diego chapter newsletter later in the month.

Last month we held a chapter business meeting. The meeting was lightly attended. The date/time and agenda items were communicated through our San Diego chapter newsletter. If you are a member and have not been receiving our chapter newsletters, or are from another chapter and would like to attend an upcoming session, please reach out to San Diego chapter president Brian Janey at BrianJaney@gmail.com.

Items addressed at the August 27th San Diego Chapter Business Meeting included:
- Officially welcomed new members Sam Bautista and Chris Clarino into our chapter. Both are musicians who studied music in college and have taken a serious interest in piano tuning in recent years. Sam is currently a student at North Bennet Street School and Chris will soon start his new position as music director at a school in Orange County. Thank you to Sam and Chris for joining our chapter as part of your adventure and development in the field of piano technology!

- Election of Officers - No new nominations were made before or during the meeting, so our executive board members agreed to continue in their roles for another term. The executive board remains as: Brian Janey, president. Paul McCloud, vice president. Jarel Paguio, treasurer. Craig Stephenson, secretary.

- Treasurer Report - Jarel Paguio gave a detailed update on our chapter’s finances including funds on hand as well as recent and ongoing expenses. To adjust for inflation from 2019 to 2020 our chapter will have a nominal increase in members annual dues (+$2.50). The financial details covered will be included in the chapter minutes for this meeting and will be made available upon request to our members.

- RPT Training / Action Models - Those in attendance voted on and approved the purchase of a vertical piano action model for our members to use in preparation for the PTG technical exam. Technical exam administrator Kathy Smith will be advising us on which model to acquire. Our chapter currently has one of the 3-note grand action models.

Our intent is to continue hosting online meetings with noteworthy guest speakers from near and far on a monthly basis. If you would like to suggest a topic for an upcoming meeting or if you'd like to be included in our San Diego chapter newsletters to receive more information about how to attend then please contact Brian Janey at BrianJaney@gmail.com.
