ORANGE COUNTY CHAPTER

October Meeting: (4th Monday)
Date: Monday, October 26, 2020
Time: 6:45 pm - Business
7:00 pm - Program
Location: Virtual over Zoom

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Bruce Stevens for a well thought out and informative presentation at the September meeting. Between discussions on touchweight and miscellaneous field repairs, the evening was insightful on a variety of different things. It was also well attended, virtually. Our thanks to the management at Fields Pianos for letting us use the space to broadcast from. Handouts from Bruce's presentation have been posted to the "926-Orange County, CA" discussion board on my.ptg.org.

Please make sure you are receiving notifications from this discussion board via email. Especially during these times, this is a good forum for us as a chapter to use to communicate in between meetings (We all pay for it, and there are other relevant ones nationally that we can all subscribe to as well). For those who have not received notifications of postings, enabling them is simple:

Follow the link below to visit our page (It would be good to bookmark it). At the top, click the "Settings" button, next to "CA" and under "Email Notifications," select "Real Time". Or if you prefer to only receive end of day summaries, select "Daily Digest". Make sure your listed email is current.

After weighing our options of how to best proceed with a tool auction during these times, the logistic complications ultimately made it not feasible in a socially distanced/online format, so we are deferring this year's tool auction. (Next year's should be big!) Instead, we will have a normal chapter meeting on Monday, October 26, where our featured speaker will be Jim Busby, with a presentation on several different topics. Those of you who have attended his convention classes know of his engaging presentation manner, so audience feedback, questions and participation are encouraged. A meeting not to be missed!

Jim Busby has worked as a piano technician for over 40 years and as a concert technician for Brigham Young University for 13 years. He has also worked at Snow College for 26 years and has been a presenter at numerous regional and national conventions. Jim received training from Steinway & Sons, Kawai and Yamaha. He is also the author of pianotechniciantutorials.com, a series of ebooks on different technical topics.
