Our online meeting this month will be
held on January 11th at 7:00 pm on Zoom and will feature a technical
demonstration on restringing by Don Mannino, RPT.
Don reports that he is
in progress on restringing a Kawai concert grand, and he will be doing some
direct demonstrating of new string installation to create clean, tight, factory
style string coils. Don will also discuss and demonstrate stabilizing new
strings, installing new strings on the existing tuning pins (as we normally do
in field service), tying single strings on the hitch pin, and more! If you
sometimes struggle with replacing broken strings, this class will give you
practical tips on being neat and efficient in your work.
As many of you
know, Don got his start down in San Diego back in 1979. He is currently Director
of Field Services for Shigeru Kawai pianos and is based in Orange County.
