Guest Speaker: Nowell Gatica
Our colleague, Nowell Gatica, from Texas, will be presenting “Pleasing the Performer – how to give the artist the best chance for a great performance.” He will discuss how to interact with performers of different skill levels, how to interpret/address requests they have, and how to prioritize tasks under different time constraints. I hope we can all make Nowell feel welcome, although it's not an in-person meeting. His experiences and training are sure to provide valuable insight into concert work.
Last month we had a great demonstration of how to install the Grand Piano Life Saver System with the undercover. Kelly Hollifield provided us with an overview of grand and vertical system installations. Gina Bonfietti gave us a bird's-eye view from under the grand piano in her shop. As weather patterns change across the U.S., a full system makes for better protection of an expensive investment – the piano.
These are installation videos a technician made for DamppChaser. He doesn't use Gina's cool Undercover access technique, but the undercover video is still really helpful.
