SANTA BARBARA CHAPTER

June Meeting: (2nd Monday)
Date: Monday, June 14, 2021
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Your Device/Zoom

The Santa Barbara Chapter continues to meet via Zoom, though we are discussing the potential for renewed in-person meetings beginning in coming months. One of the major benefits of in-person meetings for us has been hands-on technical demonstrations and presentations, and that aspect has been lacking in virtual meetings, so we are eager to resume especially since we have so many newer members who stand to benefit most from such instruction.

At our May meeting we were saddened to learn that our Chapter Vice President, Benjamin Sanchez, is moving away from the area to be closer to family and will therefore not continue in that leadership capacity. We have been especially grateful for his diligence in keeping us well-informed on larger PTG topics and issues and know that his new area will be receiving a dedicated and skilled technician. After June 1, his new Alabama telephone number will be (256) 947-9999.

We elected Chapter officers as follows: Charles Hudson, President; Michael Brown, Vice President; Evan Austin, Treasurer/Secretary

We discussed at some length the RFA regarding reduced dues for new members in Asia, though we had to speculate some because at the time of the meeting, nobody was very clear as to the details of the proposal. The text of the RFA has since been sent out to our members, as well as direct contact info for our Regional Vice President.

Our technical discussion covered an update/lessons-learned on a pinblock job, as well as stories of broken strings and plates, and ways to handle them both in terms of customer service and in terms of our own emotional/professional/mental health.

A couple of members expressed a need for a pneumatic player technician resource, and among us we had just one to share, from the L.A. area. Since then, this contributor has had another inquiry for the same. Seems a somewhat comprehensive listing of those resources could be valuable, and we invite neighboring chapters to share what they have, so we can pass those on to our customers.
