No Meeting in July

In June, Jude Reveley, RPT, gave us a tour of his shop, Absolute Restoration, in Lowell, Massachusetts. The tour began with the soundboard, bridge and rib area. There he showed us his kiln, specialized go-bars for doing downbearing, how he uses WNG perimeter bolts instead of acoustical dowels and other fascinating things. He rebuilds around 6 pianos a year in the shop and prefers to work on two at a time, so pianos do not get stuck in "piano prison." Moving from one impressive piece of machinery to the next in the main area he took the tour deep into, as he says, "a hobby that went out of control." He gave some insights into jigs and the jigs to make jigs. Near the end of the tour he gave a great survey of his balance weight methods and tools. A video recording is available:
