Our thanks to Fred Sturm who last week gave us an insightful and detailed talk on the history of Erard pianos and on the many design changes as the piano evolved.
Our next meeting will be somewhat of a hybrid: the business meeting will consist of our officer election for next year and will be virtual starting at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 23, Zoom details below. Immediately following that we will be gathering at Fields Pianos for a series of RPT exam style technical drills of repairs, etc. on some jigs and action models. Please bring your own tools; however we will have some extras in the event that someone needs to borrow something. Please note that the recital space at Fields has not officially reopened, so we are unfortunately unable to have food up there, and there is no piano up there right now.
Also as a heads up, the SCA Exam board will be offering the first RPT exams since pre-Covid on Sunday, June 12 at CSU Long Beach. The written exam has also now gone online and is the first step in the exam process. Those interested in doing their exams at this time should contact Carl Lieberman at CarlPianoTech@yahoo.com.
