At our September meeting the LA Chapter enjoyed a presentation given by Daniel DeBiasio and Glen Bingham, both from Steinway New York. Daniel demonstrated his method for bedding keyframes, and we discussed things to consider in bedding and challenges to work through in the process. Daniel also demonstrated correct ways to approach regulation work on Steinway actions equipped with the Spirio player system and things to keep in mind when we service these pianos.
In October our meeting will be hosted by Greg Nazlikian and Steve Nazlikian, RPT. Greg and Steve are brothers and owners of Piano Masters in Glendale. They are sons of Paul Nazlikian, RPT. We will hear a presentation by Brad Fant, RPT. Brad is a graduate of North Bennet Street School and holds a Master's from Florida State in Piano Tech.
Brad's presentation will focus on piano inspections, for the primary purpose of assisting a client with the purchase of a pre-owned or new piano. Brad will run down the detailed checklist he has created to ensure he checks all necessary components during a piano inspection. He will touch on unique issues and red flags to watch out for, business methods related to piano inspections, and how to best "hold hands" with the customer throughout this process to ensure and maintain the best working relationship.
