Thank you to Franco for starting our year off with our January meeting at his shop where he took us through several current pedal projects, with their challenges and opportunities for improvements.
In February we are excited to have Don Mannino teaching "Dolby, (oops) Donby Noise Reduction for Your Clients’ Pianos"- reconditioning steps you can take to improve the touch and reduce noise in your clients’ older grand piano actions.
This will be a new program with information pulled from Don’s popular full-day seminar on "Resurrecting the Older Grand Piano." For this session he will focus on noise issues in older grand actions, especially key return noise, and techniques we can use to reduce that noise. In addition, Don will be talking about common friction issues which arise as actions age and are played in, with demonstration of how we can make some major improvements in the action feel and performance in the course of an extended service appointment.
We will meet on Monday, February 20th at 6:30 pm at Faust Harrison's warehouse location, 14726 Oxnard St., Sherman Oaks, CA 91411. As usual, come early for a bite to eat and fellowship with your compatriots.

Isaac had tools for everything. Piles and piles of action parts. Cabinet parts for every conceivable piano. Drill press, keytop buffing wheel, grinder, air compressor, and a number of other shop machines are available. 25 filing cabinets. Lots of piano benches. Assorted tools like saws, chisels, screwdrivers, etc. Tons of clamps and some of his specialty kits are available. Special treasures and oddities are to be found in Isaac’s stuff to remember him by.
