Last month we enjoyed Steven Norsworthy's fascinating presentation on his recently developed unison tuning electronic device. Although the group was small, one of our number is also an electronics engineer, and there was great discussion. One unexpected outcome: Steven may even contribute a detailed historical assessment of Period Piano Collection's collection of ETD's!
The next two months will focus on vertical piano actions with Powerpoint presentations by Bill Shull.
In February we revisit the Yamaha spring cord replacement techniques for both butt plate style and non-butt plate style verticals. Effort is made to provide detailed procedures for each application.
And in March we look at touchweight and vertical pianos, including a discussion of the varying approaches and placement of lead in vertical piano keys, the significance of key ratio and its management, and the relative importance of hammer weight.
