The LA Chapter had a great evening in March learning from Brad Fant, RPT, in his presentation on effective business strategies. As usual, Brad was full of excellent information, data and statistics, and therefore his advice as to how to run a piano business was grounded in solid evidence. Thanks Brad! We had a great turnout that night. Thanks to Faust Harrison for hosting the in-person crowd of over twenty-five people, and thank you to the more than twenty who logged on to catch Brad on Zoom.
In April we will get a field trip to visit the Audiology program at California State University at Northridge. Much thanks to Kayoko Forrest, RPT for putting this night together, even as she has been in recovery. It's hard to keep a good technician down!
Please note that this month's meeting will happen on Wednesday, April 17th, and not on our usual Monday evening.
We are excited to hear from Dr. SuHyun Jin, Ph.D. & CCC-A, and the Director of the Doctor of Audiology Program at Cal State Northridge. She has been working as a professor of audiology since 2004, teaching and conducting research projects in several areas, including the science of hearing, psychoacoustics, auditory and speech perception, cochlear implants, and doing work in hearing conservation and industrial audiology.
This is clearly a very pertinent field of study for people in our profession. On the 17th, joined by Dr. Mingshuang Li, Dr. Jin will talk about the effects of noise and music exposure on hearing and daily communication. After their presentation, for those interested, we will be able to get a brief hearing screening, which will last about three minutes per person.
The event will be held in Monterey Hall, Room #341 at 6 pm. To find the location, enter the CSUN entrance from Nordhoff Street. Take a right on to Matador Road, (you are now entering the campus) and at the first STOP sign take another right and you will see the parking lot G1.
Please park your car within the stalls designated for LSHC. Monterey Hall is located just in front of the parking lot.
