In June we will hear a presentation by "Guru" Yamamoto. The class is entitled “Piano Tuning Theory - Structure of Temperament.” In this class Guru will present lecture slides and a tuning demonstration which illustrate the theory behind three historical musical temperaments: Pythagorean, Just Intonation, and Equal Temperament.
Guru Yamamoto started his career in piano technology at the Yamaha Piano Technical Academy in 2008. He joined the Yamaha Corporation in 2009. He held several technical positions working in support of Yamaha subsidiary sales companies throughout the world. His first outside position was in Osaka, Japan, after which he worked supporting the Asia and Pacific markets, and later held a similar role supporting European and Japanese markets. In 2019 Guru received an assignment with a special focus on piano service parts. His latest position as Piano Technical Manager at Yamaha Corporation of America started in March of 2024.
Our meeting will be held on Monday, June 17th at Faust Harrison Pianos in Santa Monica. They are located at 3232 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica, CA, 90404.
