In July we had a good showing of chapter members who made the trek to Des Moines for the annual convention, including several first time attendees from LA. As always, it was a great time to hang out together as well as renew friendships with other techs from across the country.
Alan Eder and Ed Whitting's class came with the debut of their t-shirt honoring LaRoy Edwards, the creator of the 37 Steps of Grand Piano Regulation. The shirt was a hit among those who knew LaRoy, and those who have been through the 37 Steps class. Alan and Ed also created a website highlighting all of LaRoy's contributions to piano technology. Thanks to those from our region who taught, thanks to Carl for another annual shearing to benefit the PTG Foundation, thanks to Kayoko for the help she gives the home office crew each year. And a hearty congratulations to Bruce Stevens for being this year's recipient of the Golden Hammer award. Well-deserved, as all of us here in the region have a story of how Bruce has always been ready with a helping hand for a fellow technician in need.

In August we have been invited to join the annual Taco Cart feast hosted by Kathy Smith and David Vanderlip. We will join other chapters for an evening of good food and clavier stories. Food and drinks will be provided by the chapters, but please feel free to bring additional beverages or desserts to share that evening with others.
