Thank you to the team at Yamaha for hosting their open house in October. It
was great to see their new facility, meet all of their piano team, and get
informed on the resources that Yamaha is now putting together for offer to the
technician community in the tradition of the original Little Red School House.
They reaffirmed their desire to work with the Guild and provide increased
educational opportunities for technicians who work on Yamaha pianos.
In
November we are excited to announce a day learning from one of the Guild's most
passionate advocates of continuing piano education, Jason Cassel, RPT, of the
Salt Lake City, Utah Chapter. Jason is a familiar face to anyone who has
attended conventions over the past few years, or for anyone who has cracked open
the Journal lately, as he has just offered up an excellent series on action
geometry demystified.
Get ready for a full day of education and community
as Jason comes to present two classes, The Aftertouch Ballgame, where he does a
deep dive on understanding how to set aftertouch on both uprights and grands
with consistency, and Voicing: Behind-the-Scenes, with recordings and graphs
showing which partials are changed through voicing, shedding light on what is
happening when we adjust hammer felt.
Jason will also highlight some of
the Guild resources he is passionate about: the Education Hub, the Journal
Index, the Service Manual Archive, and the Slow Motion Video collection.
We will meet on Saturday, November 22nd at the Cal State University Long Beach
Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, 6200 E. Atherton St., Long Beach, CA 90815, in
the Choir Room, A301. Thank you to CSULB Piano Technician, Joshua Sadinsky, for
the arrangements.
