ORANGE COUNTY CHAPTER
October Meeting:
Date: Sat., 10/24/2026
Time: 1:00 pm
Location: Vandersmith Shop
724 N. Citron
Anaheim
Our September meeting was held at Piano Empire in Buena Park near Knott’s Berry Farm. The speaker was Kathy Smith with assistance from David Vanderlip. She covered many tools and tips, agraffe removal and much more. There was a large turnout including Guild President David Stoneman and Western Regional VP Brian Janey plus some young people just getting started in our crazy profession. I think how as a new tech I got to hear the local legends like Norman Neblett, LaRoy Edwards, Francis Mehaffey, and Don Morton. Today's young people have never heard them but we have Kathy and David who will be remembered and talked about decades into the future.
And speaking of the future, our October meeting will be our Annual Tool Auction on Saturday the 24th, again at the Vandersmith Shop, 724 N. Citron, Anaheim. Sellers can arrive as early as noon to put their things out, buyers can come at 1:00 pm to look things over. Bidding starts about 2:00 pm and goes until we are done, maybe 5:00 pm. Snacks and drinks will be provided but if you'd like to bring something, great! This is a chapter fundraiser so half the sale price goes to the chapter. Or you can donate all of your sale to the chapter.
And this is very important! WE WILL HAVE LOTS OF TOOLS FROM THE LATE, GREAT NICK GRAVAGNE - TOOLS AND BOOKS. His family is donating these items to the chapter. As you know, Nick was a much beloved member of our profession and a recipient of the Golden Hammer Award. The auction is, of course, open to all chapters and especially new and prospective members. See you there!
